Thank you for your interest in St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School. St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School provides a safe, nurturing, and joyous community for children to experience and develop compassion, empathy, and creativity; to learn about and engage with the natural world; and to build a foundation for a life-long love of learning. We offer classes for two-year-old’s, three-year-old’s, and Pre-Kindergarteners. 2’s classes are offered two, three, and five days a week. 3’s classes and Pre-K are offered five days a week.
The Regular school day begins at 8:30am and ends with pick-up 12:30pm. To help with busy families’ schedules, St. Mark’s Day School offers additional options for care from 7:30am to 3:45 pm. Students bring both a morning snack and a lunch from home.
Early Birds (7:30 - 8:30 a.m.)
Does your day get off to an early start? If you’d like to bring your child to school before the 8:30 a.m. start time, the Day School offers an early drop-off starting at 7:30 am. Early care offers a variety of activities for children to choose from that are fun and educational and is a great way to start the school day!
Daily Classes (8:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m.)
A day at St. Mark’s may include artwork, story time, dramatic play, Chapel, music, Gym Magic movement classes, nature walks in the Barton Creek Greenbelt, and plenty of outdoor fun on the playground.
Our integrated curriculum supports the development of language and communication, problem solving, group experiences, and sensory and motor skills. Low-key pre-reading and pre-math skills are introduced as the children become developmentally ready. This is done through story time, group reading and discussion, language experience charts, investigative experiences and problem solving.
Each child brings their own morning snack and a healthy lunch from home each day.
After School Enrichment Classes (12:30 - 1:45 p.m.)
St. Mark’s offers variety of After School Enrichment Classes once the regular school day ends. Some examples of classes offered are Dramatic Play, Studio Art, Yoga, Young Chefs, Spanish, Science and Nature, Sports Magic, Ballet and Piano. Students who attend these classes are escorted to the class by their teachers. Parents pick up students from the After School Class at 1:45 p.m. Initial sign-up for After School Enrichment Classes takes place on the annual Parent Work Day in August. During the school year, you may register for a class by contacting the School Office. Space in these classes is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Enrichment Classes are available to students who are at least 3 years of age and potty-trained. If space is available, you may enroll your child in a new class at any time. Parents must provide at least two weeks of written notice before canceling or switching classes.
Stay & Play Drop-In Class & Rest 1 (12:30-1:45 p.m.)
We know that schedules can be unpredictable, and that you can’t always be here by 12:30. Stay & Play is a great option if you have weekly schedules that change, or have a child that is under 3. Stay & Play allows for child initiated play with seasonal crafts offered and plenty of outdoor play on our playground.
Rest 1, also from 12:30-1:45 is our first opportunity for our children to rest during the day. If your child attended early care, or you simply wish your child to rest at this time, this is another option to extend the school day.
Extended Care & Rest 2(1:45 - 3:45 p.m.)
Following the After School Enrichment and Drop-In Classes, Extended Care offers parents further flexibility in planning their day. From 1:45 – 3:45 p.m. students are given a snack and enjoy free play time inside and on the playground.
No advance reservations are necessary for Extended Care! Simply sign-up on the sheet in the hallway, or else let the School Office know that your child will be staying for Extended Care. Children whose parents do not pick them up from After School Classes will be automatically brought to Extended Care.
