Cub Chronicles: October 31st
Dear Families,
Our annual Trunk or Treat was such a wonderful success, and it’s all thanks to you! We are so grateful to all the families who decorated trunks, donated treats, and joined us for the fun. The children had such a joyful time celebrating together, and it wouldn’t have been possible without your creativity and community spirit. A big thank you as well to our amazing teachers, who always make these events extra special by dressing up and joining in the fun. I just love our community- we are so blessed here at St. Mark’s!
I also want to extend a special thank you to all the parents who have volunteered in classrooms, at events, and behind the scenes since the beginning of the school year. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm make such a meaningful difference for our students and teachers. We truly couldn’t do it without you.
As the cooler weather settles in, please remember to send your child with a labeled jacket or sweater each day. We’ll continue to enjoy outdoor play whenever possible, and layers help everyone stay comfortable.
Looking ahead, we’re excited for parent conferences and the chance to connect with you about your child’s growth and progress. We’re also looking forward to our next Coffee Talk on Friday, November 7. It's a great opportunity to gather as a community and visit as a school community. We hope to see you there!
Thank you, as always, for helping make St. Mark’s such a warm, supportive, and joyful place for children to learn and grow.
Wishing you a cozy and cheerful end to October,
Whitney Zisman
Head of School
Dia de los Muertos Altar
Our beautiful Día de los Muertos altar, thoughtfully organized by Ms. Mayra, is now on display in the Parish Hall. Thank you to everyone who contributed photos, flowers, and memories to make it so meaningful. The altar will be available for viewing through Sunday, November 3. Feel free to stop by over the weekend to take a look.
No School November 4
Just a reminder, there is no school on Tuesday, November 4, in observance of Election Day.
Coffee Talk Friday, November 7
Join us for Coffee Talk on Friday, November 7, after drop-off in the courtyard. It’s a great chance to connect with other parents, hear school updates, and enjoy a cup of coffee together. We hope to see you there!
A friendly reminder that parents are always welcome to join our Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 chapel services on Wednesdays at 9:30. We’d love to see you there!
January Open House & Sibling Waitlist
Current families: if you have younger siblings who may be ready to join us in the future, now’s the perfect time to join our Sibling Waitlist. Siblings receive priority consideration, and your early interest helps us plan for upcoming school years. Please note there is a $50 waitlist fee that will come through Brightwheel.
Friendsgiving and Food Drive
We will be celebrating Friendsgiving on Wednesday, November 19. Each grade level will share a special meal together at school (this is a student-only event). Our T-Th Bears will celebrate on Thursday, November 20.
In the spirit of gratitude, St. Mark’s Church is hosting a Food Drive to support our community in response to the recent suspension of SNAP benefits. Our food pantry partners include El Buen Samaritano, Trinity Center, Welcome Table, and Sunrise Navigation Center, all of which will see an increased need in the coming weeks.
You’re invited to bring non-perishable food items and baby formula (unopened, no glass packaging, please) to school any day, and we will make sure your donations are delivered to the church.
Thank you for helping our students learn the importance of caring for others and giving back to our community.
The holidays are quickly approaching, and it’s time to mark your calendars for our annual Christmas Pageant! Each class will have its own special day to shine:
Thursday, December 18th: T/Th Bears, Otters, and Owls
Friday, December 19th: MWF Bears, Ladybugs, Butterflies, and Foxes
We can’t wait to celebrate the season with all of our families!
Another week of fun! We’re growing and learning more every day.
